Las Vegas police have apprehended the individual who was observed climbing the Sphere on Wednesday morning, bringing an end to the incident.
The person responsible for scaling the Sphere has been identified as Maison Des Champs, who is famously known as the "Pro-Life Spiderman." Law enforcement officials have stated that Des Champs is now facing charges related to the destruction of property and conspiracy to damage private property.
In response to the Winter Weather Advisory, a Las Vegas man has been apprehended and is now facing charges for destroying property after climbing the Sphere.
The individual identified as Maison Des Champs, also known as the "Pro-Life Spiderman," has been confirmed by FOX5 as the person who scaled the Sphere. According to the police, Des Champs is being charged with destruction of property and conspiracy to destroy private property.
Photographs shared on Des Champs' Instagram story suggest that the climb was premeditated and aimed at raising awareness for the pro-life non-profit organization, Let Them Live.
A spokesperson for Let Them Live informed FOX5 that Des Champs is a professional climber and a pro-life activist based in Las Vegas. He has undertaken similar scaling stunts worldwide to raise funds for women facing crisis situations.
In a press release issued by the non-profit, they stated, "During the influx of half a million football fans arriving in Las Vegas for Super Bowl LVIII, Des Champs aims to compel the public to care about the fate of unborn children in our country."
Notably, Des Champs had previously been arrested for climbing the Aria in August 2021, indicating a repeated pattern of engaging in such activities.Tim Clement, a friend of Des Champs, mentioned that the climb was executed swiftly, taking approximately 15 to 20 minutes, emphasizing Des Champs' expertise and the risks associated with such endeavors.
