Dragon Ball tells the story of a boy named Goku who lives in the middle of a mountain alone. 

He then meets Bulma, a genius young girl, who is trying to collect 7 magic balls which are said to be able to grant all wishes. These balls are called Dragon Ball.

Dragon Balls are 7 crystal balls scattered throughout the world, the balls are orange and have a star pattern in them, if someone succeeds in collecting 7 Dragon Balls a dragon god will appear who is able to grant any wish, including bring the dead back to life.

On his journey with Bulma to look for the Dragon Balls, Goku has to face many obstacles, one of which is the Red Ribbon Army. This group has the same desires as Goku and Bulma.

In the official Dragon Ball media, they say that Akira Toriyama has published many manga titles and works in the Japanese industry.

"Thank you for the support of many people in the world, his career in the creative industry has spanned 45 years. We hope that the world of Akira Toriyama's creations will be continued by many people for a long time," wrote their statement.

The news of his death was confirmed by Akira Toriyama and Dragon Ball's official social media.

"We are deeply saddened to inform you that manga creator Akira Toriyama passed away on March 1 due to an acute subdural hematoma. He was 68 years old," read a Dragon Ball Official statement.

The official Dragon Ball management team also requested that the funeral procession be held behind closed doors.

Dragon Ball (Japanese: ドラゴンボール, Hepburn: Doragon Bōru) is a Japanese media franchise created by Akira Toriyama in 1984. 

The initial manga, written and illustrated by Toriyama, was serialized in Weekly Shōnen Jump from 1984 to 1995, with the 519 individual chapters collected in 42 tankōbon volumes by its publisher Shueisha. 

Dragon Ball was originally inspired by the classical 16th-century Chinese novel Journey to the West, combined with elements of Hong Kong martial arts films. 

Dragon Ball characters also use a variety of East Asian martial arts styles, including karate and Wing Chun (kung fu).
